Located in the historic Union Grocery, the center features their permanent collection of nearly 1,400 pieces of self-taught art. Folk Art is visual art made in the context of folk culture using practical items.
The museum, located in the former freight station, is home to historic memorabilia of Morehead and Rowan County. From the historic 1939 flood to the symbols of yesteryear, the ever-changing exhibits offer excitement for all ages.
Operated by volunteers, the museum honors the flag, military and veterans from across Morehead and Rowan County. Enjoy an educational tour from one of the local veterans.
A long-standing festival hosted on the shores of Cave Run Lake. Storytellers from across the nation share tales, stories of the past and present and a ghost story or two. Fun for ever age under tents packed with listeners on the edge of their seats. The festival is hosted annually the last weekend in September.
Kicking off the festivities in downtown Morehead with a car show, food vendors, games for the kids and music from every genre featured on the Moonlight Stage. As the sun sets, the sky comes alive with fireworks that can be viewed from anywhere in town. The festival is held in July annually.
Home to 10 studio artists, the center features summer educational camps, theatre productions, a small gift shop featuring local artists and a gallery with a rotating exhibit. The upstairs auditorium, known as the former court room, is the perfect space to host receptions, weddings, concerts and more.
The City of Morehead Parks and Recreation Department offers various facilities and activities for the community and visitors. Enjoy Rodburn Hollow Park, Laughlin Health Building, summer camps, Sheltowee Falls Splash Pad, bocce ball courts, soccer fields, baseball fields, playgrounds and more.
Morehead’s community theatre was established in 1989 and hosted inside the Rowan County Arts Center. Musicals, comedies, drama and more have filled the community for over three decades. On any given year, the Guild produces two to three performances.
18-holes across a rolling landscape with zoysia fairways, bent grass greens and picturesque views. Golfing on the home course of the Morehead State University Eagles, makes this championship course a great place to spend an early morning or afternoon.
